Lots of work has been done by guys down at the allotment, a big thankyou to everybody who has helped.

The map is an update of which are our allotments and which are available as of yesterday afternnon (13th March 2007). Darker colouring block of six plots are ours and the lighter shadings are "available"

Click on the map to have a closer look. The council is obliged by law to have a certain amount of allotments so even though a lot of the shaded ones don't actually seem to exist the council "has" to list them.

Basically the site is now pretty full - fantastic!

We've sorted out our wrong allotments issue we were 47 - 50 (hence the blog name) but we are now 48 & 49 and 182 - 185! Nice to meet Gary down an the allotments on Sunday and to bless him with 47 & 50!

It really feels like a community is building down there, which is just fantastic.

Hi - Love you blog - you've done an incredible amount of work.

We are going to have a look at some plots at the weekend on Hagg hill - any tips on the best ones available - preferably without a forest to cut down !!

Thanks Lisa,

I would recommend in no particular order:

A)37/180 - this is a bog but I think can be drained fairly easily with some channels cut.
B) 56-60 - lots of work can't remember about the tree status and they are quite close to Rvelin valley road so may have a lot of rubbish in them.
C) 74-76 - a lot of tree chopping (though we have a good chainsaw).

Maybe see you down there over the weekend.

Best of luck searching

Thanks for that - we got the map from the council this morning and they do have a lot on your list but I take your points regarding the plots being listed and not actually existing. May be see you around

Tchad,

It's Susan Box here. Given that you are now moving to another site and clearing that is there any chance of me getting a log from you? It would need to be freshly cut - i.e. this year, and ideally not that long, maybe a foot to a foot and a half?

I want to try growing shitake mushrooms but I need a log for it.

If that's a problem, or you aren't going to be getting any logs in the next week or two then don't worry, but thought I would ask.

Hope you guys are well.

Love
Susan

I have a question about your plot 183 - is this the one that has not been touched yet and has many tree's in it, also has a stone wall down the left hand side. We started work on 75 and had a horrib thought that we were on the wrong plot - I don't think we are but I thought I would check to see what you think !!

Hi Lisa,

Sorry been offline for a few days, yes the wall is the edge of our boundry so don't worry. Actuslly just read your comment again. As you face the plot (with yours on the right) 75 is the one on the right of the wall ;-)

They are a bit of a nightmare!

Blessings

Hi Tchad - we thought it was but I had a horrid feeling that we may be clearing the wrong plot - we have taken 76 too which I am hopeing is clearly the plot after and not what we think is the other half of 75 - 75 does seem a big plot but not big enough to be 2 plots - if that makes sense. We should be there at the weekend so we may run into you
